Description
The Diocese of York
Vicar
St John’s Newland, Hull
We are a newly re-formed, growing, diverse and informal church seeking a Vicar to lead us into the next exciting chapter of our life and mission. We are focussed on being ‘church as family’, celebrating our diversity and valuing the importance of unity. We seek to be a church that demonstrates ‘simplicity, humility and boldness’ in our shared experience and to see them lived out in our individual lives. We enjoy our informality – people and community are more important to us than organisations or structures.
The last four years have seen significant growth from a small congregation of just 10 to now average 70 each week with much of the growth being from those new to church. Our very varied parish is important to us – we love our community and are committed to them. We have an active student ministry, close links with the University and we are committed to our Church School.
We are looking for a Vicar who shares our values and will be:
- Faith-filled and expectant that God will grow our church
- A prayerful disciple who loves to tell others about Jesus
- Open to the work, guidance and empowering of the Holy Spirit
- A preacher and teacher who values the bible
- Welcoming and inclusive in their approach to people
- A careful listener, to the needs of the church, community and prompting of the Spirit
We thank God for all He has done amongst us recently and we are excited about what He will do through the leadership of our next Vicar. There’s a wide range of gifts and experiences they might have that are ‘desirable’ but loving Jesus and sharing that love with our community is ‘essential’.
